UNITED SIKH YOUTH “WE ARE ALL SIKHS” RALLY ATTRACTS OVER 1,200 SUPPORTERS

Vancouver BC – November 20, 2011 – Sensing the historic opportunity at hand, over a thousand supporters packed the room at Fraserview Hall in Vancouver to be a part of the “We Are All Sikhs” rally organized by the United Sikh Youth Slate. The Khalsa Diwan Society was formed in the early 1900′s and was once one of the most powerful Sikh organizations in North America. The society’s election is less than a week away on Saturday November 26th. This election is considered one of the most historic in recent times as Joga Singh and the United Sikh Youth has presented the community with the opportunity to vote for revolutionary change in the Gurdwara’s management.

The rally began with the singing of the the Sikh national anthem, Deh Shiva and the Canadian national anthem, O Canada. The supporters were then treated to enjoyable skits acted out by the youth and passionate dhaadhi vaars depicting the revolutionary vision United Sikh Youth has presented in their Five Point Plan. The skits were followed by videos, speeches, delicious food and much more.

Joga Singh addressed the 1200 strong gathering with a very positive message about the future of our community. Some of the themes focused on during the rally by United Sikh Youth also included providing the community with programs and services which address the pressing needs in our community such as higher education, drugs, gangs, domestic violence and seniors health.

Speeches by community leaders echoed the importance of this election, especially the candidacy of Joga Singh Sangha who himself was raised in South Vancouver and spent his entire childhood growing up at the Ross Street Gurdwara. Joga Singh is a business professional and a strong community role model and mentor; the kind of candidate and community leader Khalsa Diwan Society has needed to return to its days of glory.

Supporters left the rally energized and feeling the momentum of the United Sikh Youth campaign. There has been an unprecedented outpouring of support for Joga Singh and the United Sikh Youth slate with community leaders, groups, and organizations from sometimes rival factions coming together to support the revolutionary vision.

United Sikh Youth is appealing to the community to rally around Joga Singh and the United Sikh Youth slate and their positive message for the future; by uniting together a brighter future for the community is upon us!
